What is Safety Cloud?

Safety Cloud service by HAAS Alert reduces the risk of collision by delivering real-time notifications called “digital alerts,” directly to nearby and approaching motorists. Digital alerts warn drivers of emergency vehicles and crews, work zones, and other hazards, allowing them more time to slow down, move over and make safer maneuvers.

Safety Cloud is the world’s largest real-time vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication network connecting many users and vehicles on the roadway. Safety Cloud enables and empowers use cases that are transforming road safety today.

What is a digital alert?

A digital alert is an electronic notification sent directly to drivers inside their vehicles through the world’s leading navigation apps and some car infotainment systems. The technology has been proven to reduce the risk of collision by up to 90 percent.

HAAS Alert is the global leader using this technology to send advanced notifications that protect all roadway users. When your emergency or flashing lights are activated, Safety Cloud begins notifying drivers that your crew/vehicles are nearby. Digital alerts are more effective today than traditional lights and sirens.

How does Safety Cloud work?

Safety Cloud protects emergency personnel and roadside operators en-route and on-scene by broadcasting two types of alerts to approaching drivers:

Stationary alerts

When your emergency lights are on and your vehicle has been stationary for at least 30 seconds, Safety Cloud creates an event and begins alerting nearby drivers of your presence.

Moving alerts

When an emergency vehicle is en-route to an incident with emergency lights activated, public safety fleets send out dynamic alerts to warn nearby drivers that they're approaching.

Digital alerting

Digital alerts are sent from emergency or roadside personnel vehicles straight to civilian motorists up to 30 seconds prior to the hazard.

Responder-to-Responder (R2R™) digital alerting

R2R digital alerts notify emergency responders when other Safety Cloud-equipped emergency vehicles are in active response and approaching the same intersection. R2R digital alerting is an add on feature available to public safety agencies.

Situational awareness dashboard

Your people are constantly on the move. You can use Safety Cloud’s situational awareness dashboard as your own customizable control center to view the location and alert status of your equipped vehicles and assets from any connected device.

Monthly Safety Cloud report

Learn about Safety Cloud's impact on your crew through tangible and insightful data. HAAS Alert emails you a monthly personalized Safety Cloud report to help inform planning and identify trends to optimize operational performance.

How do drivers receive Safety Cloud digital alerts?

Safety Cloud delivers alerts to drivers in ways they cannot miss. Currently, drivers can receive Safety Cloud alerts through select navigation apps and compatible in-vehicle infotainment centers.

Navigation apps

Those who use leading navigation apps, such as Waze, receive both moving and stationary alerts from Safety Cloud.

Stellantis vehicles

Drivers of compatible 2018 and newer Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and RAM vehicles receive Safety Cloud alerts through Stellantis’ in-vehicle Emergency Vehicle Alert System. Drivers will receive an audible tone as well as a message displaying the relevant hazard.

How do I equip my fleet with Safety Cloud digital alerting?

Equip entire fleets, new or legacy vehicles, apparatus, and equipment using these methods:

HA-7 Transponder: integration with existing warning lights

The HA-7 transponder can be installed on any fleet, vehicle, or equipment. It doesn't matter the make, model, or age. The HA-7 connects directly and synchronizes with your flashing lights.

HA-Direct Integration: activate on leading telematics platforms

Safety Cloud also integrates with leading fleet management and telematics solutions, such as Cradlepoint and Samsara. That means you’ll be able to start alerting through those platforms without installing additional hardware.

Preinstalled and prepaid on new apparatus

Safety Cloud service comes preinstalled and prepaid on new vehicles and apparatus from manufacturers such as Pierce, Frazer, and Rosenbauer. You can also spec HAAS Alert on any new custom build with any manufacturer.
