HAAS Alert protects first responders and roadway workers who risk their lives every day to serve their communities. Collisions account for many of the injuries and deaths in these professions. Each month, we publish a roundup of struck-by incidents to highlight the dangers responders face and to call for stronger safety measures.

A Traffic Technology Today article written ahead of June's ITS America (ITSA) Conference & Expo in Detroit featured HAAS Alert as a key participant in the event’s record-breaking outdoor demonstration program. ITSA highlighted us in their Instagram post about live demos too.
North Carolinian news publication, the Daily Courier wrote about the Rutherfordton Fire Department's (NC) recent fleet wide Safety Cloud deployment.

After resharing a 2025 KXII 12 feature about the Criner Hills Volunteer Fire Department’s (OK) Safety Cloud deployment on social media this week, KTEN was inspired to write its own article on the department’s proactive commitment to safety.

The District Municipality of Muskoka (CAN) took to LinkedIn to highlight the Muskoka Paramedic Services’ recent Safety Cloud deployment, making them the first EMS agency to deploy this technology in the area. The announcement also caught local media attention, making the news on the Huntsville Doppler station.
Collisions:
A Langston Fire Department (OK) fire truck was side-swiped by a semi-truck late Thursday night while the crew was returning from storm recovery efforts. It is currently unclear if any injuries were sustained in the incident.
Two Chicago Police Department (IL) officers were hospitalized Saturday morning after their patrol vehicle was struck by an SUV. The collision occurred when the driver of the civilian vehicle reportedly failed to obey a traffic signal. The driver attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended, and all parties involved were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Two New Bern Police Department (NC) officers were injured Wednesday when their vehicles collided while responding to an emergency call. Both officers were transported to a local hospital for evaluation of minor injuries. The incident is currently under investigation.
A Kansas City Police Department (MO) officer and two civilians were hospitalized Monday following a collision at an intersection. A woman and a 7-year-old girl suffered life-threatening injuries Sunday in Chambers County (TX) after their SUV struck a parked Hankamer Volunteer Fire Department truck. The fire truck was assisting at a previous scene with emergency lights activated when it was hit from behind, causing the SUV to glance off and strike a third vehicle, which overturned. A Massachusetts State Police trooper and a wrong-way driver were killed in a head-on collision early Wednesday in Lynnfield (MA). Trooper Kevin Trainor, 30, was finishing his shift when he responded to reports of a Jeep traveling the wrong way; the vehicles collided just after 2:00 a.m. while the trooper was attempting to intervene. An 18-year-old motorcyclist and a police officer were injured in Barrington Hills (IL) Tuesday night after a motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed struck a utility pole and a stopped squad car. The officer was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released, while the motorcyclist remains in critical condition. ( Lake and McHenry County Scanner)
An Elmwood Park (IL) police officer sustained minor injuries after a head-on collision with a sedan on Chicago's West Side early Monday morning. The crash occurred while officers were in pursuit of a speeding driver. The 31-year-old driver of the sedan was taken into custody with charges pending, while the officer has since been released from the hospital. ( CBS Chicago)
A St. Louis (MO) police officer ran a red light without emergency lights or sirens activated, striking a civilian vehicle at an intersection. The department confirmed the officer’s equipment was not in use at the time of the April 11th collision, which left the 65-year-old victim with neck and back injuries. ( KSDK)
A patient and two EMTs were hospitalized late Thursday night in Boston (MA) after their ambulance collided with a Jeep at an intersection. The impact sent the ambulance through an iron fence and left the Jeep with significant front and rear damage. The EMTs were taken to the hospital for evaluation, while the patient they were originally transporting was successfully transferred to continue treatment. ( Boston 25 News)

The first collision involved an unmarked vehicle, which sustained significant damage. While responding to that scene, a marked patrol car was involved in a second crash with a civilian vehicle nearby.

A Menlo Park (CA) police officer was injured and hospitalized Wednesday afternoon following a collision with another vehicle during a high-speed pursuit that extended onto a local bridge. The driver of the other vehicle was uninjured.
A Fall River (MA) police cruiser responding to a call with lights and sirens activated collided with an SUV that crossed double-yellow lines into oncoming traffic to bypass stopped vehicles at an intersection. Both the officer and the other driver were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
