Each month, we publish a roundup of struck-by incidents to highlight the dangers responders face and to call for stronger safety measures.

Cleveland City Councilman Charles Slife announced on Facebook this week that the city’s Office of Radio Communications has begun outfitting Cleveland Division of Fire (OH) apparatus with HAAS Alert’s Safety Cloud. The citywide implementation, which covers all fire ladders and engines, was funded through discretionary dollars from the Councilman’s office.
HAAS Alert was featured in a Journal of Emergency Medical Services (JEMS) article this week highlighting Terex Ambulance Group’s latest innovations at FDIC 2026. The piece specifically called out the new Horton unit for Washington DC Fire & EMS, which comes equipped with Safety Cloud digital alerting for enhanced collision prevention and scene safety.
HAAS Alert was highlighted in a recent hoodline Columbus feature on the OhioHealth Capital City Half & Quarter Marathon. The article showcased the event's "First Responders Heroes Challenge," a dedicated initiative honoring police, firefighters, and EMS personnel, with registration support provided by HAAS Alert to encourage participation from the public safety community.
KPLC 7 News featured the Carlyss Fire Department in Louisiana's recent Safety Cloud deployment in an article earlier this week. Fire Chief Mark Ware said "now they have that visual right there that helps them understand that an emergency vehicle is approaching so please move to the right."

Collisions
One person was hospitalized with minor injuries after an SUV crashed into a Batavia (OH) fire truck that was preparing to respond to a call. No firefighters were injured, and the fire truck sustained only minimal damage.
A North Patchogue Fire Department (NY) truck was involved in a collision Thursday morning while responding to a call with lights and sirens activated. An 88-year-old driver attempted to turn into the path of the apparatus at an intersection, but no injuries were reported.
